Position: Dietitian Surgical and Gastroenterology
Grade: Senior/equivalent to band 6/7
Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday.
Contract: This is a fulltime, permanent position
An exciting opportunity to work in the areas of gastroenterology and surgery. SVUH has the largest number of patients with inflammatory bowel disease in Ireland.

Our Emergency Department (ED) is the major referral centre for the region for patients with strokes and major trauma. We are home to a number of national centres including the National Centre for Cystic Fibrosis, National Liver and Pancreas Transplant Programme. St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH), is a model 4 hospital in the Dublin, South-East health region with UCD as our academic partner. SVUH is one of the 8 dedicated centres for cancer surgery in Ireland and is the national centre for pancreatic, neuroendocrine (NETs) and liver cancer.
St. Vincent’s University Hospital is part of the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group (SVHG) which also includes St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4 and St Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin
A team of 30 dietitians provide services to a range of specialities including critical care, liver and pancreas transplant, HPB surgery, cancer care, adult cystic fibrosis, nephrology, endocrinology (Diabetes) and age-related care. We provide acute practice placements for pre-registration dietitians. There are opportunities to get involved with audit, research and quality improvement projects. CPD is encouraged and financially supported.
Role Summary: The post holder will provide a comprehensive nutrition and dietetic service to patients requiring nutritional support and counselling pre-and post-colorectal surgery and gastrointestinal disorders, will work collaboratively with the Senior Surgical Dietitian and the Gastrointestinal Clinical Specialist Dietitian.
Requirements:
- State registered with CORU (Apply for Registration – Coru),
- Have 3-years post graduate experience, preferably some experience of managing patients with intestinal failure and home parenteral nutrition.
