Purpose
The University of Reading is launching a MSc Dietetics (pre-reg course) and plans to take its first entrants in September 2025. To support the rollout of our dietetics programme, the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences seeks to appoint a candidate to the post of Lecturer in Dietetics. We are looking for an experienced HCPC registered dietitian, who has worked in the UK health system at a band 6 AfC level or above. This is an exciting addition to our departments portfolio of courses in nutrition and food science (foundation, BSc, MSc and PhD) and our schools offerings in pharmacy, physician associate, advanced clinical practice and independent prescribing. Other health related courses we offer at the university include, speech and language therapy,
psychology, psychological based therapies, biomedical sciences and medical sciences.
We would welcome applications from dietitians, who have experience in the development/delivery of practice-based education, have ambitions to lead this area and the development of simulated
healthcare teaching. There will be the opportunity to work with other health courses in the university and across the sector to develop interprofessional learning opportunities.
The successful candidate will undertake high quality teaching, curriculum development and course management using their in-depth knowledge of clinical dietetics. Teaching and learning activities will include module development and delivery of high-quality modules at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
In particular, the successful candidate will lead the development of modules in dietetic practice, clinical nutrition and practice-based learning which will align to professional accreditation
requirements and prepare our students for their first posts. There will be opportunity to undertake supervision of MSc and BSc projects in your specialist area. The successful candidate will work
with our partners to develop projects that support the development of the profession and the evidence base.
Team Structure
The successful candidate will join the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition (HSUHN) within the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences. The HSUHN has a long standing, international
reputation for excellence in teaching and research in Human Nutrition, and attracts high quality students from across the globe and delivers highly employable graduates. Our HSUHN nutrition
team consists of dietitians, nutrition scientists, physiologists, biochemists, researchers, and clinical trials professionals, all of whom actively contribute to our teaching and research/scholarship
activities. We expect the successful candidate to collaborate not only with nutritionists and/or food scientists within FNS, but also with colleagues in other relevant Schools i.e. School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, the School of Pharmacy, School of Biological Sciences and professional directorates as is relevant to their professional area.
