Job Description
Job Title: Product Development Dietitian

Department

Commercial
Reporting To: Ruth Smith, Head of Nutrition & Marketing Band: C (equivalent to Band 5 NHS)

 

Job Purpose:  

To be the main dietetic support to the product development and procurement teams. To be responsible for the management of product nutrition and ingredient data.  To support the Company Dietitian and Head of Nutrition & Marketing in supporting customer and business requirements.

 

Must Haves:
Must be a registered dietitian on HCPC register and full BDA member
Must have right to work in UK
Great attention to detail
Drive and enthusiasm 
Must be a ‘foodie’
Must enjoy working with systems
Able to work effectively within a team environment and on own initiative.
Effective communicator (written & oral) with both internal and external customers (customer facing)
Good problem-solving skills with a logical approach
Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages and be able to generate procedures, graphs, reports and presentations.
1-2 years clinical experience would be helpful

 

Role Accountabilities:

1 Product Development

To work closely with the product development team to influence product development (includes setting dietetic product briefs, reviewing the nutrition and diet coding of products against the briefs, attending regular taste panels, preparing customer nutritional reports, carrying out easy chew testing, registering vegan products with the Vegan Society).  

2 Procurement

To work closely with the ingredient approval team to ensure any new ingredients meet the company sustainable sourcing policy (including nutrition and food standards).  

3 Systems

Using and optimising existing recipe software system to manage Back of Pack (BOP) product data.  May require input into the development of new systems with other key stakeholders.

4 Compliance

Supporting the Company Dietitian to ensure the business complies with relevant industry guidance and legislation and monitoring KPI data.  Writing relevant departmental policies and procedures.

5 Sustainability

Supporting the business to meet its net zero objectives, including managing carbon labelling product data and environmental food standards data.

6 Customer Support

Interacting with customers to contribute to discussions around new products, menus and tastings.  Ad hoc support with customer queries and menu planning.

Location:  Colchester, office based with occasional travel

Salary: Equivalent to Band 5 NHS pay scales, spine point depending on experience
